Burning Incense: When praying for blessings on the top of Taishan, burning incense is an important part. People light incense sticks in front of the incense burner, hold three sticks of incense in their hands, raise the incense above their heads, and bow to the heaven, earth and all directions. These three sticks of incense are respectively dedicated to the heaven, the earth, and the deities, expressing reverence for all things in the universe and the deities. As the curling blue smoke rises, it seems to convey people's wishes to the unknown.
Hanging Blessing Plaques: Around the Bixia Temple and the Jade Emperor Summit, there are densely hung blessing plaques. These plaques come in various shapes and materials, such as wooden and metal ones. People write their names and wishes on the plaques, like hoping for the safety of their families, smooth progress in their careers, and academic achievements, etc., and then hang them in conspicuous places. When the gentle breeze blows, the blessing plaques collide with each other, making a clear sound, as if the wishes are singing in the wind.
Bell - striking: In some temples on the top of Taishan, there are big bells. Bell - striking for blessings is also a common ritual. When striking the bell, people hold the bell mallet with both hands and strike the big bell with force. The bell rings loudly and melodiously, echoing among the valleys. Each ring of the bell represents a prayer, symbolizing the dispelling of troubles and the arrival of good luck.
